Stephanie Bastos’ innovative dance class challenges and inspires by creating a sacred space for all bodies to be included in the movement experience. Warm- up, skill- build, find your edge and play with Improvisation and Choreography rooted in Brazilian Contemporary Dance techniques and African polyrhythms. This movement experience is designed for everyone!
Stephanie Bastos (she/ her), daughter of Bernadette Chaves Nunes and Aluizio Ribeiro Bastos from Brazil, is an award winning performing and teaching artist, touring nationally and internationally as a solo artist and with companies like the Isadora Duncan Dance Ensemble, Urban Bush Women and AXIS Dance Company in California. Currently living bi- coastally on Ohlone (Oakland, CA) and Tequesta (Miami, FL) territories, she is an advocate for quality arts education and is committed to indigenous wisdom and technologies. She serves as a birth worker in her community by facilitating spaces that decolonize bodies and minds through prayer, song, dance and the creative process.
