Radical Inclusion
Radical inclusion means we pledge to foster an environment at AXIS where all of our
community members feel welcome, represented, and accommodated in our
performances, programs, and services. Members of our community include people who
are:
- D/deaf and disabled, including people who are neurodiverse and those with invisible and disabilities
- LGBTQ+
- Black, Indigenous and people of color
- From diverse socio-economic backgrounds
- From diverse cultural and religious backgrounds
- Veterans
- Youth and Elders
- Non-disabled
Accessibility
We pledge to work towards full accessibility for all D/deaf and disabled people in our
programs and services. To read more about our accessibility services, make an
accommodation request, or provide feedback, click the link below.
Racial Equity
We pledge to deepen our commitment to racial equity. We are in the process of drafting an equity plan with our Board, Staff and Dancers that will outline AXIS’ goals towards strengthening our anti-racist values.
Our goal is to share this equity plan with our community by June 2022.
Our Racial Equity Resources were last updated January, 2021.
Land Acknowledgement
AXIS Dance Company resides on the unceded Lisjan (Ohlone) territory of Huichin. We
acknowledge the Lisjan (Ohlone) people of the past, present, and future who belong to
this land, water, air, plants, and animals that live here.
We recognize that a land acknowledgment is one small step towards addressing the
harmful history and present-day acts of colonialism and ableist discrimination brought
upon the indigenous inhabitants of our communities.
To support East Bay / Huichin indigenous sovereignty and learn more about this land, please visit sogoreate-landtrust.org/lisjan-history-and-territory/ and consider contributing to to the Shuumi Land Tax at sogoreate-landtrust.org/shuumi-land-tax/
