AXIS Assembly Program

March 1 @ 8:00 am March 31 @ 5:00 pm PST

A black and white photo of Julie Hasushi, who is a wheelchair user, dancing with elementary school children; all have expressions of joy on their faces. Yellow and white text over a blue background reads information described in event page.

AXIS is excited to offer mind-opening assembly performances and dance workshops for grades K-12. The programs showcase innovative, contemporary choreography and emphasize collaboration among disabled, non-disabled and neurodiverse people.

AXIS Assemblies provide students with the exciting experience of enjoying a live AXIS performance. AXIS dancers showcase artistic repertory, provide educational information on disability, share personal dance history, and introduce the audience to an integrated dance experience. Programs include a 5-minute Q&A session at the end, and an Activity Guide for teachers to use with their students prior to and after the assembly. AXIS assemblies promote tolerance, inclusion, and acceptance of disabled people. Students will leave with a broader definition of what dance can be and what a dancer looks like, and are empowered with the message that anything is possible. Virtual assembly option available.
