AXIS invites disabled and/or neurodiverse choreographers to apply to our 2024 Choreo-Lab Fellowship!
This year’s Choreo-Lab “the Lab” will take place in-person at AXIS’ home base in Berkeley, CA from Tuesday, May 28th – Saturday, June 8th, 2024. Up to three Choreographer Fellows will be selected to participate.
APPLICATIONS OPEN JANUARY 2, 2024
Application Deadline: Wednesday, February 21, 2024
Applicants will be notified starting: March 4th, 2024
To be considered for the AXIS Choreo-Lab Fellowship, you must be available for the duration of the Lab, identify as an emerging or mid-career disabled and/or neurodiverse choreographer, reside in and be legally able to work and receive payment in the United States. (AXIS cannot provide visas for international artists.)
The Lab offers an inclusive environment where established, disabled artists mentor their peers to challenge boundaries and create perception changing art. During the Lab participants will be led through a creation process stemming from their own concept, collaborating with an integrated group of performers including AXIS dancers and professional dancers from the local community. The Lab provides studio space, dancers, and administrative support for every choreographer. This opportunity also includes ongoing mentorship and professional development support in the year following the Lab.
