Kinematic / Kinesthetic: Exploratorium

May 10 @ 12:00 pm 4:30 pm PDT

Kinematic/Kinesthetic is a groundbreaking work that integrates emerging and existing technologies to expand movement potential for both disabled and non-disabled dancers. Watch as AXIS Dance Company pushes the boundaries of dance technology through the use of dynamic mobility devices, including telescoping crutches and robotic hexapod legs developed by engineering students at Carnegie Mellon and University of Maryland working with multidisciplinary artist Ben Levine. Journey to the intersection of art, disability, and access technology in this captivating performance.

Exploratorium, San Francisco
Performances at:
12PM (ASL Interpretation, with Q&A)
3PM (Audio Description, with pre-show Touch Tour at 2PM)

Audio description and pre-show Touch Tour provided by Gravity Access Services.

The tour will provide participants with an intimate and up-close tactile experience to feel and engage with the space, artists, props, costumes, and set-up of the Exploratorium stage.

Participants will be able to learn more about the work and the movement language in order to enhance their performance experience. This tour is designed for people who are blind or low-vision, but it is also open to others interested in an inside experience of the performance.
