What does it mean to truly belong in a creative space?

At AXIS Dance Company, this question guides our work every day. As Artistic Director, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing how our community—made up of disabled and non-disabled dancers, choreographers, educators, and program participants—creates space for deep artistic connection, honest collaboration, and personal transformation. This blog is a new way for us to open that space to you. It’s an invitation to experience behind the scenes, to hear the voices that move AXIS forward, and to explore the many ways dance can reflect and shape our shared human experience.
Welcome to the new AXIS Dance Company blog! I’m thrilled to open this space where our vibrant, multifaceted community can share stories, insights, and experiences that live at the heart of our work. Through these posts, from our company dancers and teaching artists, from choreographers creating new work with us, and from participants in our education and outreach programs. Our team will share insights from the studio, reflections from the road, and conversations that challenge and provoke us. Whether you’re an artist, student, audience member, or simply someone curious about integrated dance, we invite you to follow along, engage with us, and be part of this evolving story.
