Grounded in Laban/Bartenieff principles, this movement improvisation class will explore the vitality that comes with holding seemingly opposing physical ideas simultaneously. Paying particular attention to the presumed polarity of inner vs. outer, we will playfully explore how inner sensation, intention, and meaning is supported by and foundational to a dynamic, embodied presence in the world.

Company Improvisation Class w/ AXIS Dancers

Come take class with our full company! This improvisation class is designed to re-awaken curiosity with a playful approach to dance, while deepening our listening skills.  This class offer a creative framework in which participants can reconnect with their bodies, explore their imaginations, increase their stamina, and experience the pleasure of movement in a welcoming, accepting environment.

Join our full company for an exploration into foundations of contemporary dance technique: Release, contraction, extension, use of momentum, and connecting breath with movement.  Also we will all use the idea of translation to creatively explore, connect with our curiosity, and experience joy for movement!
